Overseas investment in New Zealand property may be possible through the Active Investor Plus visa Category, designed to encourage economic growth through attracting high value, experienced investors. The option replaces the previous Investor 1 and Investor 2 categories, which were phased out in 2022.

Active Investor Plus Visa

The Active Investor Plus category may help foreigners buy property in New Zealand; the intention of the Visa is to make New Zealand appealing for foreign investors who will bring growth opportunities to New Zealand businesses. Direct investment in New Zealand firms is through a weighting system, with indirect investment also offering weighting at a lower rate.

Eligibility criteria includes a minimum $5 million investment if it is a direct investment.
